My first post! little more about me

I am presently in 12.9716° N, 77.5946° E generally ruminating my past and often given to contemplating the why’s of life in all its variety and even its very basis. Music is a constant in all I do and I prefer the sub 100 bass set to above 100 bpm. Yes deep bass does provide me the right dopamine shot. I continue to learn the English and this abiding quest for proficiency in a foreign language has often put me at a disadvantage in several native languages that are the social medium. Yet, I am fortunate.

Years behind me have given me the courage, perhaps bravado, to try penning my experiences and thoughts and views on diverse subjects but mainly on humdrum events, topics of the time etcetra. Technology makes me bold to get on to this endeavour. I deploy terms from other languages in my prose to make it inclusive and this is in no way an attempt at purple patching. Experiences narrated are all my own unless stated otherwise and characters are referred by imaginary names for obvious reasons. That you are reading these makes me happy. Thank you and hope you like the contents, limited though they are. I am indeed fortunate!!

By the way, my blog name is a play on the sand monolith in northern Australia. I could not get my mononym in Blogger and I settled hence for the blog name as above.

Sin, punishment, terror

  A normal day. It was early winter. Evening darkness was enveloping Calcutta as the hour approached 5 PM. The hawker was arranging his wares on the railings of Kalighat Park. The kerosene lamp was illumining the illustrations on the posters eerily. There was redemption for the sinners, but they were in punishment prescribed for each of several sins. The do gooders’ rewards were noticeably absent! The boys looked at the graphic pictures in furious red and the other primary colours. The hideous minions of the netherworld wielded terrifying instruments of torment reserved in their capabilities for each of the sins – lying, stealing, hurting, disobedience et al. The boys looked at each other in terror at the prospect awaiting them!
